Dutch Football League chooses Pebble Beach Systems automation

Less than a month after the World Cup in South Africa, the 2010/2011 Dutch football season kicked off at the start of August with Pebble Beach Systems providing broadcast automation of 10 channels for the Dutch Football League's own TV channel Eredivisie Live.

Eredivisie, the Dutch Premier League, has now provided live coverage of all the matches in the competition via its own TV Channel, Eredivisie Live, for the past two years. As the producers of Eredivisie Live, Endemol subcontracts the playout services to Technicolor Netherlands. They looked at a variety of solutions before selecting Neptune automation to meet their HD ingest, media management and playout requirements. Consultant Jinne Tania confirms 'The combination of our positive experience with Pebble Beach Systems in the past; their ability to provide us with a practical and flexible solution for our multi-channel installation; and their cost-effective proposal all contributed to the decision to install Neptune.'

The installation is being handled by Systems integrator Digital and Media Solutions B.V. (D&MS), and also incorporates Grass Valley servers, an EVS traffic system and Ross XPression graphics. Plans are now in place to augment the system with Pebble Beach Systems' Anchor Media Management solution to copy files from the transmission servers to network attached storage, for downstream processing for Endemol's Video-On-Demand service, based on business requirements passed to Anchor by EVS through Pebble Beach Systems' comprehensive API.
