The latest in seamless and secure playout from Pebble at SET Expo 2024

Epsom, Surrey, UK – 31 July 2024: Pebble, the leading automation, content management and integrated channel specialist, is bringing its market-leading products to SET Expo 2024 (with regional partner Videodata, stand 46a, Centro do Convenções, São Paulo, 20 – 22 August). Pebble will demonstrate its ability to deliver flexible, reliable, and scalable automated playout, ensuring exceptional performance at any scale.

Security and resilience are at the heart of any broadcast infrastructure, and particularly playout which is mission critical. Pebble has always developed software tuned to the demands of delivering seamless, uninterrupted output. Automation 2.0 is a completely new generation of its popular and widely-used playout platform.

The highly customisable and capable Automation is designed to support the most complex channels with dynamic scheduling and live interventions. It scales from a single service to hundreds of channels across multiple locations. Automation 2.0 readily interworks with asset management, traffic and scheduling systems, as well as controlling large numbers of devices in multi-vendor environments.

At SET Expo 2024, Pebble will be demonstrating the platform in conjunction with its integrated channel device, which provides audio, video and graphics functionality in a compact and cost-effective unit. Replicating in software all the functionality of a traditional broadcast playout chain, its software architecture is responsive and allows instantaneous changes between workflows and assignments.

“Playout automation is a mature technology, and now broadcasters are looking for the ability to create content chains and workflows to precisely match their business goals,” said David Kicks, VP Sales for the Americas at Pebble. “They need the delivery systems to integrate seamlessly with every aspect of the content and commercial chains, giving clear and intuitive access to those who need it while being very effective at keeping out those who have no part to play.

“Whether small or large, on premises, multi-site or cloud based, SDI or IP, Pebble has the solution. It provides operational clarity, layers of redundancy for complete resilience, and a security architecture, which stays ahead of all the key cyberthreats to networked software,” Kicks added.

Pebble is exhibiting at SET Expo 2024 on the stand of its Latin American distribution partner Videodata, 46a.

Flexibility, security and scale from Pebble at IBC2024

Epsom, Surrey, UK – 17 July 2024: Pebble, the leading automation, content management and integrated channel specialist, will showcase its advanced and proven solutions for broadcast workflows and playout at IBC2024 (stand 8.C58, RAI Amsterdam, 13 – 16 September). PRIMA, the software platform with broad applications for media enterprises, will be featured alongside Pebble’s full range of Enterprise products including Integrated Channel, Remote and Automation 2.0, the new generation of its popular and widely used playout system.

Pebble’s excellent reputation in the industry comes from its understanding of the role of automation in workflows and delivery. Playout is mission critical, and so Pebble has always developed software which is very highly resilient to keep every channel on air. Security, too, plays a key role in protecting the channel and maintaining uninterrupted output.

PRIMA – the Platform for Realtime Integrated Media Applications – offers a unified suite of services tailored to enterprise needs covering areas such as playout, workflow, and control. All functionality is brought under simple and immediate management, while at the same time, it protects content with security practices meeting the highest industry standards. PRIMA is scalable and flexible, suitable for on-premise or cloud implementation. It includes everything needed for full failover, redundancy, and disaster recovery architectures.

Alongside PRIMA Pebble will also be demonstrating the latest iteration of its playout system, which provides a consistent approach whether in best-of-breed component architectures or using all-in-one channel engines; SDI, ST2110 and NDI; on premise, multi-site, cloud and hybrid. With most broadcasters currently in the stage of migration between technologies, this open flexibility is vital for continuity.

“Our users have always recognised that Pebble systems are mission critical,” said Neil Maycock, CCO at Pebble. “The topic of conversation has now shifted to security, high resilience and protection from cyberthreats. That is why we are building high levels of security into our products to stay ahead of all the key threats to networked software technologies.”

Earlier this year, Pebble announced a collaboration with NVIDIA to bring the agility of PRIMA to the NVIDIA Holoscan for Media initiative. The platform is built on industry standards like SMPTE ST2110, AMWA NMOS, RIST, SRT and NDI, with the goal of providing flexible media environments while minimising resources on a shared compute platform. PRIMA’s Kubernetes architecture makes it an ideal fit for this use case.

“Because IBC brings the world’s media technology industry together, it is the ideal place to share ideas about the future,” Maycock said. “The whole team looks forward to exploring new opportunities and gaining fresh insights to guide our continuing development.”
