Pebble reports strong results for H1 2021

Bolstered by some significant orders in H1 2021, Pebble’s latest financial data indicates the company continues to grow despite the impacts of COVID-19.

Weybridge, Surrey, UK, 23rd September 2021: Pebble, the leading automation, content management, and integrated channel specialist, has announced an impressive set of figures for H1 2021 that point the way to continued, sustainable growth.

All key financial metrics are up over the Covid-impacted 2020, including revenue, pre-tax profits, and net cash, while net debt is down over £1.1 million. There are encouraging signs that this is only the start of a new cycle of growth too, as order intake is up by 64% compared to the same period in 2020, and significant orders have been won so far this year from companies such as ORF, CJP, 1+1 Media, and TV 2 Denmark. The company also reported a sales pipeline which was up 40% in comparison to the same period in pre-Covid 2019.

Meanwhile, Pebble has continued to invest in further developing its technology. The capabilities of the Pebble Control IP connection management solution have been further enhanced, the continued development of the Oceans platform has proceeded according to an accelerated schedule, and the company is seeing the benefit of a strategic move to a fully remote operating model delivering operational benefits in terms of resilience, organisational growth, and performance.

“The industry as a whole still faces multiple challenges, but I am extremely pleased with the positive way that we have responded as a company to the evolving market conditions,” commented Peter Mayhead, Chief Executive Officer of Pebble Beach Systems Group plc. “The delays in customer order placements that were experienced in H2 2020 have eased significantly during the course of this year, and we are well positioned to sustain performance into H2 2021 and beyond. Indeed, we are actively considering ways in which to further accelerate our growth.”

John Varney, Non-Executive Chairman of Pebble Beach Systems Group plc, said: “The Group has clearly delivered an excellent performance for the first half of 2021. These results, and our continued investment in new software solutions, coupled with our new remote operating model, has demonstrated that we are correct to have confidence in our ability to continue to grow this year and to take that momentum into 2022.”

The importance of playout automation in regional advertising

Broadcast Beat – leading US broadcast publication | Article

Pebble seeks to support broadcasters and media companies in their transition into IP and a more flexible and competitive world. We have been designing, delivering, and supporting automation and playout solutions since 2000. In that time we have succeeded in offering reliable, versatile, and innovative solutions of all scales and levels of complexity, earning our place as a preferred supplier to hundreds of broadcasters and media companies around the world.

Despite all the technical transitions the industry has gone through, some things remain constant. Regionalisation and direct to consumer relationships in broadcast remain vital mechanisms for advertisers and brands to communicate to their customers. With large amounts of legacy infrastructure already in place for television distribution and consumption, our Solutions Architects most typically work to help our customers go through managed operational changes at their own pace, rather than undertaking wholesale technology renewals with each new technology or standard that emerges…

Pebble announces new configurations and a new brand for their remote monitoring and control tool

Remote monitoring and control tool reconfigured to incorporate enhanced feature set in the light of increased demand for remote access.

Weybridge, Surrey, UK, 8th September 2021: Pebble, the leading automation, content management, and integrated channel specialist, has announced new configurations and a new brand for its powerful Pebble Remote tool, the remote management, monitoring and control tool for Pebble Automation and Integrated Channel deployments.

It is more important than ever for broadcasters and service providers to have secure, remote access to their playout environment, even more so when systems can comprise multiple channels across several playout sites and in cloud deployments. The Pebble Remote tool, formerly known as Lighthouse, enables users to securely monitor, manage and control their channels from inside or outside the normal transmission environment. Featuring fully configurable web-based dashboards, it can provide a mission-critical overview of any upcoming issues across the entire system, allowing users to react quickly and take action with ease and agility.

Recently shortlisted for an award for Best Networking and Monitoring tool, Pebble Remote is ideally suited to business continuity applications, with a single operator able to oversee automatic playlist synchronisation between geographically separate systems. Deployments deliver robust security featuring full HTTPS support with TLS encryption, protection against brute force password and username attacks as well as secure password hashing.

“With remote access a priority in new project planning and for expansions to existing systems, Pebble Remote meets a key need,” comments Mat Shell, Head of Sales at Pebble. “In recent months our user base has relied on Pebble Remote, to provide continuity of operation and to enable flexible working scenarios over a series of lockdowns and at times reduced physical access to their playout facilities. Over that period the benefits of secure remote management and control have been demonstrated time and again. So we’re delighted to be able to offer exceptional functionality in the new standard configuration of Pebble Remote. It is both secure and accessible anywhere at any time, is easy to use, and will drive operational efficiencies by consolidating control across multiple locations while providing mission-critical control of the playlist, including viewing and editing, beyond the normal boundaries of the playout facility.”
